According to several reports Boro have missed out signing Real Madrid's Pedro Munitis after the Spanish international opted for a permanent move to acing Santander.
Steve McClaren has also been linked with another Lazio star this week, winger Christian Manfredini. He could move for the Italian if he fails to sign Zenden.
