A poll running on Gazettelive.co.uk asked: Which manager supporters rated more highly: Gareth Southgate, Bryan Robson or McClaren?
McClaren, now in Holland with Dutch side FC Twente, picked up 61% of the vote ... with Robson and Southgate 19.5% each.
The Gazette report: "McClaren was respected rather than loved by the Boro faithful, despite being the club's most successful ever manager".
His record is there to see, the club reached two FA Cup semi-finals, qualified for Europe twice and reached the UEFA Cup final and won the Carling Cup.
With Southgate struggling, would Boro fans take him back?
I'm sure Gibson must be giving it a thought.
