Wheater Operation A Major Success!

The 22-year-old, who played through the final weeks of the Premier League season with the problem in his right knee, had surgery this morning.

Middlesbrough FC: "This morning's surgery was a complete success and Wheater is expected to be ready to return to pre-season training."

Chris Riggott, who missed the end of the season with an ankle problem, has also had surgery.

The 28-year-old, whose time at the Riverside Stadium has been plagued by injuries, managed only 20 appearances last season.
