West Brom v Middlesbrough

Last updated : 16 April 2010 By BBC Sport

Middlesbrough may still be without Gary O'Neil, who would trigger a £1m payment to Portsmouth should he play.

Jeremie Aliadiere and Emanuel Pogatetz head a lengthy list of absentees with knee and toe injuries respectively.

MATCH PREVIEW

West Brom fans might be in the mood for a party after the club sealed promotion back to the Premier League, but head coach Roberto Di Matteo is keen for his players to see out the season with style before their attentions turn to next season.

Di Matteo has already acknowledged a desire to strengthen over the summer, so the onus will be on his current squad to prove they can cut it at a higher level, especially as four points from their final three games would give them a club record points haul at this level.

In-form Middlesbrough arrive at The Hawthorns on an eight-match unbeaten run. It has seen Gordon Strachan's side close to within four points off the play-off positions and a possible immediate return to the top flight of their own.

Strachan is now six months into the job and has slowly but surely stamped his own impression on his young side. He will be keen to measure how much his squad have improved since they were beaten 5-0 at home by West Brom just a month before he took charge.
