Boro have also rejected a bid from Newcastle for Boro forward Mark Viduka. The Geordies still have another 24 hours to improve their offer but Boro are unlikely to off-load the Aussie who has featured in all three of Boro's games so far this season.
Finally there are reports that Fulham are lining up a move for Massimo Maccarone. The Italian is yet to feature this season and was left out of the Boro Reserve side last night.
Maccarone would be following in the footsteps of Franck Queudrue should he move to the Cottage.
