Boro await their first confirmed signing as the Home Office deliberate over a work permit for Korean international Lee Dong-gook, who is already to sign on the dotted line, once the work permit issue is resolved.

West Brom are reluctant to accept Boro's bid for Zoltan Gera, which includes around £2.5m cash + Brad Jones + Adam Johnson (on loan). The right sided midfielder will bolster Boro's attacking options.

Greg Halford from Colchester is another target who could fill the berth on the right side of midfield but I would not expect both Halford and Gera to sign.

Gareth Southgate has reputedly made another bid for Arsenal's Jeremie Aliadiere but Boro may have competition from French Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux.

Negotiations are well advanced for Ugo Ehiogu's move to Rangers with just some minor contractual details to sort out.

Massimo Maccarone hopes to end his four-and-a-half years at Boro. A senior delegation from Serie A side Siena are supposedly been on Teesside discussing the details Maccarone's move back to Italy.

Ray Parlour is attracting interest from Watford after not featuring so far this season for Boro.
