Steve McClaren is keen to bolster his squad, particularly in midfield, but the Boro boss has stressed that he must reduced the number in his squad before he a can recruit, so expect to see some departures before any new arrivals.

Boro have confirmed the extension of three loan deals. Andrew Davies will stay at Derby until the end of the season, with no call-back option, while Danny Graham has extended his loan for another month. Ross Turnbull will stay at Crewe until the end of the season.

David Knight joined Darlington last week as emergency cover for the Quakers, while Andrew Taylor has been recalled from Bradford to cover for the injured Franck Queudrue.
