Many players, not involved in the World Cup, are keen to tout their services around Europe, and it's no surprise that Boro are linked with many of these rumours.

Robert Huth - The Chelsea defender has agreed with Boro manager Gareth Southgate that he will join Boro after the World Cup in a deal worth around £5m.

Jimmy Floydd Hasselbaink - The Dutchman is out of contract this summer and has been attracting attention from Celtic. His agent stated that he would be interested in a move north of the border. Boro have not yet offered JFH a new contract.

Oguchi Onyewu - The USA defender playing in Belgium with Standard Liege has been linked with a move to Boro and it was rumoured that he has been to Teesside for a medical. Reading are also interested in the 6ft 4in defender.

Yakubu - Altough not confirmed it was rumoured that Portsmouth made an audacious move to take Yakubu cack to the south coast.

Rodolph Douala - It was reported that Boro had agreed a fee for the Brazilian from Sporting Lisbon but it would appear that new manager Gareth Southgate is cool on the move.

Steed Malbranque - Boro will contest the services of the Fulham midfielder with Newcastle this summer.

Other rumours have involved Mark Delaney, Lee Hendrie & Juan Pablo Angel (all Aston Villa), Bernardo Corradi (Roma) and Damiano Tommasi (Valencia).
