Thomson will be good for Boro - Boyd

Kris Boyd has welcomed talk of former Rangers team-mate Kevin Thomson's potential move to Middlesbrough and backed him to be a hit in the npower Championship. But he believes the reported £2million switch to the Riverside will also be good news for the Scottish champions, despite losing another experienced campaigner. Thomson is set to be the latest player from the Old Firm to join former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan at Boro after the clubs agreed a fee. Former Gers striker Boyd, who signed a two-year contract with the Teessiders last week, told the Scottish Sun: "Kevin will be a good signing for Boro, but it's also good business for Rangers to sell him for £2million. "That's what he cost from Hibs three years ago so to get that money back, when there is only a year on his contract, must represent good news for Rangers. "I'll be delighted if he comes here and joins us. Thommo had his problems with injuries but he came back even fitter and better. He's still a very good player and he also has plenty of Champions League experience."
