The Austrian defender will wear a protective plastic face mask over his damaged cheekbone, after Boro gained official permission for the player to play with the mask.
He has been wearing it in training.
Not ideal, as you can imagine, but the defender is getting used to it.
Gordon Strachan: “Pogatetz has trained this week and he has done very well.
“He has a lot of experience and it’s up to him to become an integral part of the team.
“We must look at the possibility of bringing him back into the squad tomorrow.”
