The Great Escape Starts Here!

After winning just one of their last 18 league matches, Boro are four points adrift of safety and have an inferior goal difference to all of the sides above them with eight matches remaining.

Fulham won four of their last five matches last season to stay up, while a Carlos Tevez-inspired West Ham claimed seven wins from their final nine matches to preserve top-flight status in 2007.

Andrew Taylor: "We can't afford to think that we are gone until it is mathematically certain.

"Two years ago West Ham climbed out if it, last season Fulham did, so this year there's every chance that we can do it.

"We are lacking in confidence, we know that, but if we forget about everything that has happened and concentrate on the three big games that we have coming up, then we will have a chance.

"If we can take maximum points from the next three then those nine points would seriously strengthen our position.

"It would also do wonders for our confidence. Pressure is a big thing for a young squad like ours but if we can claim that first win I'm sure the pressure will be lifted."
