Strikers transfer fee revealed

The fee of £7.5m puts the striker just behind Massimo Maccarone (£8.15m) and Ugo Ehiogu (£8m). The deal is not fully complete as a work permit still needs to be arranged.

The 22 year-old Nigerian forward made 32 appearances in the 2004/05 season for Portsmouth and scored 17 goals.

In 2003/04 he impressed Boro's staff on the last day of the season when he scored four of Portsmouth's five goals against Middlesbrough. He had 40 appearances that season, scoring 19 times.

Let's hope he does better than Maccarone and does not turn into a Michael Ricketts once he dons a red shirt.
