Steve Gibson agrees to Boro Manager's extended role

The FA have announced today that McClaren will be the England coach right through the 2006 World Cup qualifying games. Brian Kidd held the role prior to Euro 2004 but ill-health forced the FA to replace him with Steve McClaren as a temporary measure.

However, Brian Kidd has now been moved into the FA scouting team. This opened the door for the Middlesbrough boss, subject to the club giving their blessing.
