Sporting v Middlesbrough: Away ticket details

Last updated : 04 March 2005 By Reggie Holdsworth

Boro fans can now apply for tickets and official travel for the away leg of the club’s UEFA Cup tie with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday March 17 (KO 7.45pm).

Middlesbrough officials are still negotiating with Sporting over Boro’s ticket allocation for the second leg tie, but all tickets will be priced £22 each.

Supporters can apply now using application forms that can be downloaded from the club’s official website at mfc.co.uk. The forms, which can also be used to apply for the official fans’ flight, are also available from the MFC Retail stores, ticket office and Riverside Stadium reception.

As with previous UEFA Cup away ties, priority will be given to the club’s longest serving season ticket holders if demand for second leg tickets exceeds supply. Therefore, applications will be dealt with in the following patron number prefix order: S and T, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and finally non-season ticket holders.

Applications containing a combination of patron number prefixes will be dealt with in order of the latest prefix letter (eg. An application from three fans, two of whom have S prefixes and one of whom has a C prefix will be dealt with at the same time as applications from those with C prefixes).

The application forms can also be used to apply for the official fans’ flight to Lisbon, which leaves Durham Tees Valley Airport at 8am on the day of the game, arriving in Lisbon mid-morning. The flight will return soon after the game ends.

The package, priced £265 including a £22 match ticket, includes coach transfers from Lisbon airport to the city centre. Supporters will have about seven hours in Lisbon before escorted coach travel to the stadium for the game. There will also be escorted coach travel back to the airport for the return flight soon after the final whistle.

Tickets for the first leg at the Riverside Stadium on Thursday March 10 (KO 8.10pm) are on sale from the main Riverside ticket office. Postal applications are also being accepted, though telephone bookings are not being taken until the morning of Monday March 7.

Season ticket holders have only until this Saturday March 5 to claim their usual matchday seat at a discounted price. The stadium ticket office is open until 7pm today (Friday) and from 9.30am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday). The ticket facility at MFC Retail in Captain Cook Square is also open until 5pm today (Friday) and from 9.30am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Any seats not claimed by season ticket holders by the closing date of Saturday March 5 will go on general sale from 9.30am on Monday March 7. Telephone bookings on 0870 421 1986 will also be accepted from this date.
