The Boro boss admitted that in the first half Boro were outplayed but their second half performenace could have earned them something at Stamford Bridge.

"I think in the second half we were much better. In the first half we looked like we came here to swap shirts and watch Chelsea play," he said after the 1-0 defeat.

"But in the second half I was pleased as we rattled them and put pressure on them. We could have had a penalty and pushed them all the way.

"We changed the shape at half-time and our mentality changed as well. We seemed content to be losing 1-0 and needed to be more positive and test them which we did.

"This is a young group of lads and this kid of performance, especially the second half, will help them grow in belief."
