Colin Cooper: “We have a very young squad and a defeat of this magnitude is something most of them have not experienced before.

“When you suffer a setback like that in front of your own fans then it can have a negative affect on young players. They’ve not encountered anything like it before.

“It’s not the same for older players. I had a long career in the game and I was on the wrong end of a lot of those kind of defeats.

“You learn to deal with it. You put it behind you and you make sure that you are spot on for the next game.

“It’s different with young players. These things can stick.

“It’s our job to work with them on the training ground and help them to learn how to take whatever positives there may be out of it, and then move on.

“We have seen a positive reaction so far in training this week and that’s good.

“We now have to go to Coventry on Saturday and repair some of the damage.”
