Southgate Does Not Rule Out Late Signing!

That was the offer to Crystal Palace for Ben Watson, and nothing has happened since (apart from Watson moving to Wigan).

Gareth Southgate revealed he has already started looking at alternative options after failing to sign Watson, but stressed he would not be too disappointed if he must carry on until the end of the season with his current squad.

Many fans feel the club needs a couple of new faces to lift the doom, and increase the size of the playing staff and the selection options.

And obviously Southgate knows that too.

But he insts he will only bring in players who will improve the team, rather than "buy for the sake of buying".

After all ... what can you get for £2m?

Southgate: "We have a few ideas and we know what we are looking for.

"But we have made our situation clear in that nobody will be leaving, and it means that at best we will be looking to bring in just one signing if we can find the right player.

"If not then we will carry on. I believe that we have enough quality in the squad. We've had some awful luck with decisions lately but we can continue to give a good account of ourselves if our luck holds."
