Southgate Dismisses Smith Rumours

Media reports had suggested that Boro could be interested in the former Manchester United and Leeds striker but Southgate has said that he is happy with the strikeforce he already has.

"My view of Alan Smith is he's a striker and we're quite happy with the strikers we've got" the Boro boss told the club's official website.

"I wouldn't foresee bringing in another striker this summer."
