Southgate Decides - The Will To Win Or Fear Of Defeat?

The stakes are high for both teams but Pompey go into the game with a two-point advantage after showing signs of recovery under new management duo Paul Hart and Brian Kidd.

Southgate: "Given where the teams are in the league, a win would be a huge lift for us.

"That is our aim.

"Portsmouth have had a reasonable run with Paul Hart and Brian Kidd but we have got home advantage.

"We have been playing well at home and we need to make that count.

"We wanted to stay in the cup, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm pleased it is out of the way.

"But the reality is we've got to try to keep this team in the Premier League.

"That was uppermost in the players' thoughts anyway, even while we were still in the cup.

"It is very clear now. We have got 10 games; five home, five away. Each one is one we can get something from."
