Following a run of poor results Newcastle have terminated the employment of their manager with immediate effect.

Glenn Roeder and Alan Shearer have been put in temporary charge for the game against Portsmouth on Saturday.

The ex-Boro star had won just 36 of 83 matches in his 16-months at the club and had spent almost £50m on players. Currently they have gained only one point in the last six games and are hovering just above the relegation zone with Boro.

Pity he couldn't have stayed just a little longer!
