Steve Agnew started his reign as Boro Reserve team coach with a win at a cold Central Avenue.

Boro took the lead with half an hour gone through Adam Johnson but Sheffield equalised shortly after, and the score was 1-1 at the break.

Four goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half set Boro on their way to extending their lead at the top of the Premiership Reserve League North.

Graeme Owens and Malcolm Christie put Boro in command at 3-1 before Sheffield pulled one back. Herald Goulon then restored Boro's two goal advantage on the hour mark.

Adam Johnson looked to have made the game safe with a fifth for Boro with just over ten minutes left, but Sheffield fought back with two goals to make it a tense final 5 minutes.
