Boro overcame their Liverpool counterparts 2-0 in Kirkby tonight, with young winger Adam Johnson enjoying a fine game. The youngster was instrumental in both goals.

The first, early in the second half, was on own goal, after his cross from the left was deflected into the net by a Liverpool defender.

The second, in the dying minutes, was created after a 30 yard run. He played in Graeme Owens who scored with hard shot past the Liverpool keeper.
