The 20-year-old has attracted interest from several Premiership clubs, including Boro and Newcastle. He was influential in the Portuguese U-21 side that convincingly beat England 4-2 last week.

Boro have also been linked with several other players over the weekend, including Italian striker Vincenzo Iaquinta from Udinese, and closer to home, midfielder Michael Tonge from Sheffield United.
