There is a doubt over James Morrison who picked up a shin injury in the defeat against Manchester United.
Steve McClaren will hopefully return to a 4-4-2 formation after the disappointing 4-5-1 system which he started with on Saturday. Boro will not want a repeat of last seasons performance on the South coast.
