Derek Whyte (talking to The Sun): “Gordon Strachan will find it very hard to attract people to Boro the way Bryan Robson did.
“Footballers do not want to live in the North-east of England. They want to live in London or the North-west with Liverpool and Manchester.
“Clubs like Manchester City and Aston Villa have now joined the super-rich, so players, especially foreign ones, can take their pick. Gordon will have to scour the Championship or Scotland.
“Once you get the players to Boro, and show them the training ground and the stadium, that makes it easier but it was not always like that. When I first went to Boro, the training ground we had was dreadful.
“Ravanelli couldn't believe we had to do this and refused to train one morning because the place was so bad.
“It's not like that now. The place Gordon drives to every morning is beautiful.”
