The morning papers were telling us that Boro were close to a deal with Dutch club Heerenveen for striker Romano Denneboom.
However, news filtering through from Italy would appear to suggest that Boro are ready to talk terms with French midfielder, Stephane Dalmat, after agreeing a loan deal with his club.
Boro have until midnight on Sunday to agree terms with the 24-year-old, after which the transfer window closes until the New Year.
A statement on the official Inter site read:
"MILAN - An agreement has been reached between Inter and Middlesbrough for the transfer on loan of Stephane Dalmat. The French midfielder has yet to agree personal terms with the English club."
Boro have failed this week with late moves for Chelsea's Boudewijn Zenden and Real Madrid's Pedro Munitis, who have both opted for moves to other clubs.
