Olic Rules Out Boro!

One Sunday newspaper suggested that Gareth Southgate had made moves to sign the 29-year-old Hamburg striker - who is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

His agent Gordon Stipic: "We learnt about that [Boro's interest] from the press.

"But I have not had talks with them and to be honest we are not sure they would be worthwhile.

"I don't think they are the type of club that Ivica would consider at this stage.

"We are talking with Juventus, Valencia, Bayern Munich and of course Hamburg, and it would be very hard for us to talk to anyone else as we are a long way down the line with these clubs.

"Of course a move to the Premier League would appeal, but any club at least would have to be in Europe and ideally in the Champions League - that is where Ivica wants to be.

"Time is pressing now and we will be talking again in Hamburg this week as we want to make a decision between now and the New Year.

"Ivica now feels he will be playing for one of the clubs I have mentioned."
