North-East Fans Have Had Enough!

The Mackem fans slagged off their players on Saturday following their worst performance for some time; the Magpies chanted "You don't know what you're doing" at stand-in boss Chris Hughton at Hull; and Boro fans voiced their frustration at Gareth Southgate (again).
Sections of the Sunderland fans turned on the players during and after the 2-1 defeat to Wigan on Saturday, with Whitehead complaining during an interview with BBC Radio Newcastle the jeers from fans was counter-productive.

Southgate has pleaded for support from fans after hitting out at the Riverside crowd following their 1-1 draw with Portsmouth.

Southgate: "Saturday's game was a big game that we were expected to win.

"I know everybody came to enjoy it, and when things didn't go our way there was a tension around the stadium. That filtered through to the players.

"I know how much it means to the players when the fans are getting behind them. They really are important.

"That's why I feel that we have to stick together, because we can see this through together."
