George Boateng and Gareth Southgate should both be available for Saturday's home game with Birmingham City. Boateng has been struggling with a hamstring injury but returned to training yesterday. Southgate has trained and has responded to treatment on the back injury which forced him out of the Everton match last week.

Joseph-Desire Job has been taken off the transfer list by Steve McClaren. The Boro boss said, "He was unlucky last year and wanted to leave. If someone had come in, he would have gone. But I'm not letting him go now, we are delighted to keep him."

Mark Hudson is still to complete a move to Chesterfield where he has been on loan for the past month. The Spireites have agreed a fee with Boro but still have to finalise personal terms with the Boro youngster.

Boro coach Steve Harrison has tipped Jonathan Greening as a future Englnad prospect, he said, "He's certainly got the ability to do it and he's got the will to do it and the desire."
