Mowbray aiming to please

Crowds have slumped at the Riverside Stadium during the two seasons since Boro were relegated from the Barclays Premier League, and Mowbray's men currently find themselves engaged in a tooth an nail battle for npower Championship survival.

However, the manager is determined to provide the kind of football which will bring the supporters back in numbers.

He said: "You have got to remember that Middlesbrough supporters have had a pretty good dozen years or so, really.

"They have been to UEFA Cup finals, they have been to FA Cup finals, Carling Cup finals, and at the moment, where we are, they are very, very disappointed and probably find it difficult to come and support the team in the numbers they have in those past years.

"What brings people back into the stadium is good football, winning football, entertaining football, and if we can continue to try to rebuild and give them a team that gets them excited about their town and their football club again, then hopefully we will see the Riverside bouncing in a year or so."
