Mido Abuse Under Investigation

The Egyptian striker is said to have been racially abused whilst warming up in preparation for a 77th minute substitute's appearance in the game at The Riverside which ended goalless.

"We'll have to look at it and we'll speak to the clubs," an FA spokesman has told the Daily Telegraph.

"This will most likely involve working with Newcastle to try to prevent it happening again.

"The police may also be involved in helping identify any offenders because this is potentially a criminal offence.

"We want to make it clear you can't get away with chants like this."
