Middlesbrough: Stew may not start for England

England Manager Sven Goran Eriksson has opted to play Shaun Wright-Phillips form the start, but on the right and not on the left where Downing would play. So it's a toss up between playing Downing in his accustomed position or moving either Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard out to the left.

The England boss has indicated that Wright-Phillips, Downing and Andy Johnson will all play some part but it is more likely that he will stick with his more senior players in the first half and play the substitution game in the second half.

The Boro-born youngster is thrilled just to be a part of the England set-up.

"It's everyone's dream to play for England. Just one minute would do me!," he said. "I've got to react to the opportunity in a positive way. I've got to play my normal game, do what I do best - and hopefully impress the manager a little bit." he said.

"My strengths are running at players, taking people on, creating goals for other people as well as scoring goals myself but I'm still looking to improve every aspect of my game.

The game at Villa Park kicks-off at 7.45pm and can be seen live on BBC1.
