Middlesbrough issue more UEFA Cup advice

Middlesbrough FC has issued important advice to supporters ahead of the draw for the UEFA Cup’s group stage tomorrow morning in Switzerland.

Boro representatives are attending the draw at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon to enable them to immediately meet and discuss details with officials from clubs they are drawn to play.

With Boro set to play their opening group game away on Thursday October 21, a club delegation will also fly out for a fact-finding visit to the home club this week.

The club’s Communications Manager Dave Allan said: “We understand the excitement of our supporters, but would urge them not to rush into booking travel arrangements before they know they have been successful in purchasing a ticket for our first away game.

“We will announce details of ticket prices, our allocation of tickets and official travel details as soon as possible after the draw.

“Naturally, we hope to receive a larger allocation for our two group away ties than we received from Banik Ostrava, but there are no guarantees that this will be the case. UEFA rules stipulate that the visiting club must receive an allocation equivalent to 5% of the home club’s stadium capacity, though we will attempt to gain the maximum possible allocation for our fans.

“We would again ask our supporters not to travel without a ticket and not to attempt to purchase tickets for areas designated for home fans. Our supporters will not find it easy to purchase tickets for the home areas at some of the bigger clubs in the draw.”
