Middlesbrough have parted company with Neil Warnock and it is understood they already know the man they want to replace him.
90min has been told that former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is in line to take charge at The Riverside following Warnock's departure.
Boro made their move to axe Warnock after just 17 months in charge, after originally coming in last year to replace Jonathan Woodgate and save the club from relegation - which he did.
Warnock is believed to have informed his players ahead of their 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion that he would be leaving the club. He departs with Boro sat in 15th in the Championship.
Boro confirmed the news after the game, and their statement read: "Middlesbrough FC have parted company with manager Neil Warnock by mutual consent.
"The decision was reached after talks between the two parties and Neil leaves the club with the best wishes of all.
"Neil broke the record in English football earlier this week when he clocked up 1,602 games as an English manager, an amazing achievement that is unlikely to be beaten."
90min understands that Middlesbrough's players were informed by Warnock that Wilder was the man coming in to replace him at the helm.
It is believed Warnock did not see eye-to-eye with the club's new sporting director Kieran Scott, who made most of the deals for Boro this summer, and he is understood to have singled out Wilder.
Boro are expected to confirm Wilder as their new manager early next week. Middlesbrough's next game is against Millwall, after the forthcoming international break.
