Meet the referee: Boro v Portsmouth

Mr Foy has been refereeing at the top level since 1996 when he was appointed to the Football League List. He was promoted to the Premier League list in 2001.

He takes charge of his first Boro game this season, having officiated in four Boro games last season.

The first was the corresponding fixture last year when he booked five players in the 1-1 draw. Following that game he took charge of Boro's FA Cup 4th round tie at Coventry, which also ended 1-1. He officiated in the 3-2 defeat at Blackburn and finally the 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Last season he flashed the yellow card on 103 occasions and the red card ten times in 43 games. To date this season he has booked eight players in three games.
