Mr Foy has been refereeing at the top level since 1996 when he was appointed to the Football League List. He was promoted to the Premier League list in 2001.
This will be his first Premier League game at the Riverside, having visited on one previous occasion back in 1997, when Boro beat Reading 4-0 in the old First Division.
Indeed he has only officiated in one Premier League game involving Boro, back in 2002 when Boro visited West Ham.
Last season he flashed the yellow card on 53 occasions and the red card only once in 28 games. To date this season he has booked 9 players and sent off 2 in 9 games.
