The Teessiders have confirmed the former Scotland international, who was part of former boss Bryan Robson's coaching staff, has parted company with the club.
A statement said: "Boro have confirmed Gordon McQueen has left his scouting role with the club.
"The former Manchester United and Leeds defender had scouted for the club for several years, having previously worked as a coach during Bryan Robson's managerial reign."
