Marbella or Redcar?

It will not be long before the Boro fans really turn on Steve McClaren, the token boos when he nears the touchline suggest that the writing is already on the wall.

Marbella . . .

As he struggles to find the right formula the Boro faithful are running out of patience. Personnaly, I believe he made a major tactical mistake on Saturday by playing Brad Jones.

Not to mention the missing Gaizka Mendieta and Fabio Rochemback, two potential play-makers, not even on the bench behind Doris!

Having welcomed back his ‘No. 1’ keeper, after his two weeks on the transfer list, he failed to reinstate Mark Schwarzer to the starting line-up. If he is the best keeper at the club he should be starting.

Don’t get me wrong Jones has done a great job but he is still young and has a lot to learn. His moment of madness against Nuneaton cost us a goal, but we were 5-0 up at the time.

If Schwrazer was initially dropped for his poor form, should not Jones be dropped for his error? Has the rift between the Aussie keeper and the Boro Boss been settled, or is there still something to be sorted?

Now we hear the Boro squad have been ‘rewarded’ with a four-day break on the Costa del Sol. Manager’s gone by would have the players pounding the golden sands of Redcar and not the playground of the rich and famous in Spain.

. . . or Redcar?

The next two games are so important for McClaren’s future, I would not want to be in his shoes at the Ricoh Arena and Stadium of Light if things continue to go horribly wrong. Progression in the FA Cup is important but defeat by the Mackem’s is too serious for words.

I’m sorry, but as a Boro fan I do not want to see this alarming run continue, so if after the next two games we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, I for one will be gunning for McClarens head.
