Legends Fail to Lift Trophy

Boro were drawn against rangers in the quarter finals and narrowly scraped through winning 4-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Boro went 2-0 up in the first half with an own goal and a Dean Windass goal, but Rangers pulled one back before the break.

Boro cruised the second half, but at the death Rangers eqaulised to take the game into a penalty shoot out. Goals from Bernie Slaven, John Hendrie, Gary Parkinson and Paul Kerr saw Boro through.

Another tight game in the semi-final against Wolves was also settled at the death. Boro once again took the lead through Peter Duffield but Wolves equalised before the break. As the game looked to be heading for penalties veteran Steve Bull won it for the West Midlands side with literally three seconds remaining.
