King Gets Into The Derby Mood!

Marlon King: "This league is unforgiving - I was at Hull earlier in the season and we were third, level on points with the big boys.

"To see Hull scrapping for their lives shows you how unforgiving this league is.

"You have got to take what you can in this league. Monday is going to be a tough game, but everybody is looking forward to it.

"No-one wants a relegation on their CV, me included. It's a massive club and the supporters are very dedicated to this club.

"You can see how much Middlesbrough means to everyone and it would be a massive disappointment if it was to happen.

"But we are not going to discuss that until the day of reckoning - which we don't want to come.

"Winning games breeds confidence. When you are winning, things go your way and you get a bit of luck and penalty shouts and stuff.

"We have had penalty shouts and decisions go against us, offsides and stuff. When you are down at the bottom, I'm sorry to say, things go against you.

"We have just got to keep plugging away until we are mathematically out of it. There are three games to go, so there are still points to play for.

"Everybody knows what's riding on it, but we are the ones who have got to go out there, so we have got to stay focussed.

"It's all right for supporters and outsides to get caught up in the banter and the chat, but we know it is 11 men v 11 men and all you can do is give 110 per cent and try to go for it.

"They are all massive games, but being a derby as well and the position and what's riding on the wins we get from now until the end of the season - and it's the same for Newcastle - is massive.

"I am sure our supporters will be there in force, and they will have a full house, so it will be a good game."
