The Boro winger made a major impact in the first half, being involved in two England goals.

He supplied the corner for the first goal, by Tom Clarke, after just five minutes and made a great run for England’s second just before half-time, his efforts deserved a goal but his saved shot was tapped in by James Walker. Belgium had levelled between the two England goals.

England went 3-1 up early in the second half but a 76th minute penalty and some late pressure from the Belgians could not deny the young lions a victory.
