John Hendrie - Boro deserved to win NE Masters

Last updated : 07 July 2004 By Holgate

John Hendrie put Boro's success down to the introduction of some younger legs into the Boro Masters squad compared to last year.

Boro beat Sunderland in the first game and then easily beat the Geordies in the second. This meant Boro were in the final regardless of the result in their next game against Blackburm.

John says that 'we just messed around and had a laugh in the Blackburn game'.

Boro then refocused for the final and beat Sunderland again, but this time more impressively with a 5-0 score. For the record Bernie Slaven got three tap-ins, as John called them, and Hendrie and Windass one ech.

John's sons were impressed at the end as they got covered in champagne in the celebrations.
