Jimmy Floyd on FA charge

The FA have charged Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute.

The charge relates to claims the former Chelsea, Leeds and Boro forward made in his autobiography about the Blues.

The 34-year-old ex-Dutch international alleged in his book that Chelsea had paid an additional bonus to the players following the Champions League quarter-final victory over Arsenal in April 2004 which would have breached Premier League rules.

The Premier League conducted a thorough inquiry into the alleged bonus payments and found no evidence to support the claims, which were denied by Chelsea.

The case was therefore referred to The FA which conducted its own inquiry into Hasselbaink's conduct.

The player has until 14 August to respond.
