J-Day has arrived

As expected the original request for a work permit was turned down by the DoE, so Boro will now turn to an appeals tribunal, in Sheffield tomorrow.

Boro's party will be headed by manager Steve McClaren and chief executive Keith Lamb, who are both confident that they will be successful in over-turning the decision.

Lamb said today " I am confident. Juninho has won 42 international caps for Brazil and has played in the World Cup Final. I am sure he is of sufficient talent."

If Boro are successful in their appeal they can apply for Juninho's international clearance papers and complete the transfer. Juninho cannot fly into the country until the work permit is granted.

Meanwhile talks are continuing between Boro and Goerge Boateng, who has returned to Aston Villa to continue training. Discussions have continued on the phone, so Boro hope to make a double announcment in the very near future.
