The first 'good' news was that Stuart Parnaby would only be out of action for three months and not the whole season as first feared.

It was revealed today that the young full-back has only partially torn his cruciate ligament. He will be put through an extensive rehabilitaion programme and could be back in full training in 12 weeks.

Other news revealed that goalkeeper Carlo Nash has not broken his finger in a training ground accident, as first feared.

Finally, there was promising news regarding Chris Riggott (back), Colin Cooper (groin) and Carlos Marinelli (hamstring). All three players could return to training next week and be available for Boro's next game, a trip to Bolton, a week on Saturday.

Massimo Maccarone and David Murphy remain on the long term injury list.
