Gibson and Lamb deny that Viduka move is on the cards

On Monday evening the local press was full of the news that Mark Viduka was off to Newcastle with Nicky Butt moving the other way, plus a fee. The news dismayed most Boro fans as the last thing we need is another fairly defensive midfielder.

Graeme Souness fuelled the situation by stating that 20 goal a season strikers like Owen, Anelka and Viduka were the just the sort of players Newcastle were looking to bring in.

Yesterday, Boro Chairman, Steve Gibson said the press reports were no more than speculation and today Chief Executive, keith Lamb, came out and said there had been no contact between the clubs and that Viduka is not for sale.
