Barmby has had an illustrious career which has included spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, as well as Boro.

He also scored 4 goals in 23 England appearances, including the 5-1 win against Germany and was in the Euro '96 and Euro 2000 squads.

The 34-year-old played an hour for Hull on Saturday in their 2-1 win over Boro, and his current deal ends in the summer.

Nick Barmby: "Without a doubt I want to stay - you still want to be involved.

"I still feel fine, I've just got to keep fit. At the end of the day you get paid to play and be fit and around the place.

"I have got no problem with that, but I love it here and I want to play as long as I can here.

"It is up to the manager, it is a squad game and I have no problem with whatever his decision is.

"I'll just keep my head down and keep working hard in training, the same attitude as I have always had."
