Adam Johnson: "Everyone is hurting at the moment at the training ground - everyone you speak to will tell you the same thing - but Blackburn was always going to be a scrappy game, a relegation battle nobody wanted to lose.

"It was a tight match and a point was probably fair.

"I think keeping a clean sheet was vital. I don't think we've done that for a few games now.

"Now all we need to do is to try and get that elusive goal - hopefully that will come.

"The players are obviously not happy about the run we're having. After every game without a win we are disappointed but on Saturday we took a point and we can gain a little more confidence from it.

"We're in the next round of the cup and didn't put in too bad a performance at Chelsea so hopefully things are looking up for us a bit now and we can fight our way out of trouble."
