European tour results

Four games in less than a week will give Gareth Southgate much to ponder over. Nine goals conceded and none scored.

Boro started in Cologne with two mini 45-minute games against Athletic Bilbao and Cologne. In back-to-back games they lost 1-0 to Bilbao and 2-0 to Cologne.

Moving on to Holland Boro met Feyenoord in the De Kuip Stadion and suffered a 2-0 defeat in front of over 35,000 fans.

Finally, Boro travelled to Heerenveen and were well beaten 4-0, although Boro did play for nearly 80 minutes with ten men after David Wheater was sent off.

There was much rotation of the squad during the tour with Southgate giving as many players as possible a run-out, but the results were still disappointing.

Lets hope the new Boro boss has learned from the experience and puts right the failings that were highlighted. A couple of new signings might help!
