Darlington sign up second Middlesbrough player

Quaker's boss David Hodgson has signed the 22 year-old midfielder Brian Close. Close only made one appearance for Boro, when coming on as a sub in November 2002.

He impressed Hodgson when on loan to Darlington at the end of last season.

The Quakers have also signed the 21 year-old ex-Boro 'keeper Sam Russell. Russell made two appearances for Middlesbrough and was on loan at Scunthorpe for a lengthy period last season.
